Synopsis

Woodsman Giles Winterborne (Rufus Sewell) is destined to marry his sweetheart, Grace Melbury (Emily Woof), a timber merchant's daughter. But when Grace graduates from an elite boarding school, her social climbing instincts get the best of her, and she forsakes Giles. Instead, she opts for an unhappy marriage with a handsome doctor (Cal Macaninch). Through it all, Giles pines for his lost love in this lavish romance based on the Thomas Hardy classic.
