Synopsis

The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) box art Oscar-winning war drama set in Burma in 1943. A regiment of British POWs held by the Japanese are ordered to work on the construction of a bridge to carry troop trains. After resolutely refusing to cooperate, their commanding officer cracks under torture, decreeing that the bridge be built to perfection. As his men labour under appalling conditions, an American prisoner escapes with news of the project.
