Synopsis

In this surprisingly well-made TV-movie thriller, Bruce Greenwood stars as criminologist Dr Bob Keppel who was enlisted by baffled police to help identify the prolific "Green River Killer" in the mid-1980s. What makes this true-story serial-killer story so intriguing is that Keppel used interviews with notorious convicted murderer Ted Bundy to help him in his investigations. Bundy was on death row for his own heinous crimes at the time and, as played by Cary Elwes, is an unnerving Hannibal Lecter-like presence throughout the movie. Indeed, the battle of wills between Keppel and Bundy acted as an inspiration for The Silence of the Lambs. Kathleen Quinlan adds class as Keppel's wife in an unflashy but eerily effective exploration of the mind of a killer.
