Synopsis
Based on the book Where Shadows Linger, this is a meticulous if occasionally melodramatic account of the bungled investigation that left Canadian serial killer Clifford Olson to continue his reign of terror in the early 1980s. Nicholas Lea and Lochlyn Munro play the Mountie corporals pursuing Olson (Paul Coeur) for murder and rape, but director Anne Wheeler is less interested in the manhunt than in the bureaucratic ineptitude that prevented decisive action. Sadly, this merely reaffirms the weakness of Canadian cinema that has prevented Wheeler from completing more theatrical releases.
