Synopsis
Have they no shame? The original Harvey is an all-time classic comedy that provided James Stewart with one of his more memorable roles, and it's hard to think how it could be improved. In this bland TV-movie version of Mary Chase's hilarious Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Harry Anderson does his best as cheerful drunk Elwood P Dowd, who insists that he has a giant white rabbit as a chum, and there is useful support from the likes of Swoosie Kurtz and Leslie Nielsen. But it's not a patch on the Stewart film and just makes you pine for the marvellous original.
