Synopsis

In this so-called comedy drama, Dougray Scott and Jimi Mistry are among an ensemble of man-children who'd rather play football than tackle adult responsibilities. Unfortunately, it's neither funny nor dramatic as the characters are so one-dimensional. Scott is the incorrigible womaniser who cheats on his pregnant girlfriend (Emilia Fox), and Mistry is a struggling musician at loggerheads with his entrepreneurial dad. Their dilemmas are limply written (by Patrick Wilde) and drearily staged by director Simon Shore, while occasional stabs at comedy are just irritating. In particular, a subplot where Bruce MacKinnon tries to convince Billie Piper into a threesome is tediously dragged out and with barely a titter to compensate. There's nothing especially awful about this film, but it seems to revel in its own blandness. As it stumbles lethargically to an uninspiring end, it doesn't celebrate life so much as provide a sharp reminder of your own mortality.
