Synopsis
Journalistic ethics come under fire in this newspaper drama in which a novice reporter (Sally Field) at a Miami daily becomes a pawn in the investigation of a liquor distributor (Paul Newman) suspected of being involved in a mob murder. Tragedy and scandal follow in this crime drama written by former reporter Kurt Luedtke that received Oscar nominations for Best Actor (Newman), Best Supporting Actress (Melinda Dillon) and Best Screenplay.
