Synopsis

The Iron Petticoat (1956) box art There's a fabulous and unexpected chemistry between Katharine Hepburn as a Russian aviatrix and Bob Hope as an American serviceman in this updated spin on Ninotchka, filmed in England from a clever (and, one suspects, heartfelt) screenplay by Hollywood veteran Ben Hecht. A wonderful support cast excels under the direction of the underrated Ralph Thomas (Doctor in the House) and, although the Cold War may be over, the attitudes hilariously expressed in this movie haven't dated at all.
