Synopsis
Though his practical-minded wife, Jijai (Gauri), urges him to get a more lucrative job, Tukaram (Vishnupant Pagnis) is content to thrill their village with his lovely songs of devotion. Trouble strikes when a jealous priest (Kusum Bhagwat) tries to take credit for Tukaram's tunes. After performing a series of miracles, Tukaram becomes a folk hero. This stirring biopic of the famed 17th-century saint-poet was an early international hit for India.
