Synopsis

When longtime marshal Frank Patch (Richard Widmark) kills a man in self-defense, the modern-minded residents of Cottonwood Springs use the incident as an excuse to oust their old-school lawman. But there's one big problem: Firing him is against the law. Iconic songstress Lena Horne co-stars as the sheriff's love interest in this seminal Alan Smithee Western, which quickly morphs into a standoff between the "old" and "new" West.
