Synopsis

How you feel about a third helping of American Pie will of course depend on how the first two servings went down. For some, these adolescent sex comedies were the living proof of how popular cinema had plumbed new depths in taste. For others, who spotted the essential sweetness at the heart of the confection it was a worthy successor to the John Hughes teen-fests of the 1980s. In this supposedly ultimate slice, in which series regulars Jim (Jason Biggs) and Michelle (Alyson Hannigan) attempt to tie the knot, writer Adam Herz delivers the familiar recipe of bawdy set pieces that culminate in a shamelessly upbeat and sentimental ending. Nothing new then, and as revolting and foul-mouthed as ever, but this will be a reasonably satisfying final course for Pie fans everywhere.
