Synopsis

A Challenge for Robin Hood (1967) box art Although it will always be best known for its horrors, Hammer had something of a reputation for swashbuckling in the 1960s. Sadly, this adventure isn't half as much fun as the studio's earlier Robin Hood outings, Men of Sherwood Forest and Sword of Sherwood Forest. Barrie Ingham dons the Lincoln green to take on John Arnatt, here promoted to Sheriff of Nottingham after several seasons playing his scheming deputy in the 1950s TV series. The action is staged with little imagination by director CM Pennington-Richards, but compensation comes in the ample form of James Hayter's Friar Tuck.
