Synopsis

Never Love a Stranger (1958) box art John Drew Barrymore stars as a Jewish orphan who becomes a New York crime kingpin in this tacky mixture of Dead End Kids-style schmaltz and Mob warfare, covering the early years of the 20th century to the Depression. Produced and co-written by Harold Robbins from his own potboiling novel, the only reason to watch today is for Steve McQueen (billed as Steven) in his first significant screen role as Barrymore's teenage buddy who grows up to become assistant DA.
