Synopsis

Fatal Error (1999) box art There's a lethal computer virus jumping from hardware to humans in this cautionary and topical conspiracy tale based on the novel Reaper. Janine Turner plays the unconvincing US army agent who reluctantly teams up with disgraced doctor Antonio Sabato Jr in a race against time to shut down the deadly technology at its source. Though the concept is promising, it's weakly executed with increasingly implausible plotting further hampered by sci-fi clichés and hokey dialogue. Poor visual effects and entertainingly over-theatrical victims only compound the mess, turning what could have been a taut little thriller into an unintentional hoot.
