Synopsis
This routine wagon-train western is mainly of interest for reuniting the stars of Raoul Walsh's Colorado Territory, Joel McCrea and Virginia Mayo. This was one of the movies that Allied Artists (formerly the poverty-row studio Monogram) made to consolidate its A-feature reputation. However, despite the spurious grandeur achieved by filming in CinemaScope, the two leads look old and Thomas Carr's direction lacks focus. Louis L'Amour's source novel deserved a snappier screen adaptation than this.
