Synopsis
A strong performance from James Cagney and a fine supporting cast lift this otherwise unexceptional newspaper picture. Cagney plays a journalist who helps a widow run her late husband's business, despite the local politicians and other dignitaries who are trying to close it down. There's civic corruption, characters with shady pasts and a little romance, but mainly it's a story about integrity. The film was produced by Cagney's brother, William, as part of their bid for complete independence from the studios.
