Synopsis

Time Lock (1957) box art Shot on a shoestring budget at the old Beaconsfield Studios, but set in Canada, this nail-biting thriller was based on a TV play by Arthur Hailey, who went on to find huge success as the writer of blockbuster novels such as Airport and Hotel. Written and produced by Peter Rogers and directed by Gerald Thomas, it follows the race against time to free a small boy from a bank vault before he suffocates - hardly what you expect from the team that devised the Carry On series, but Thomas builds the tension adroitly enough and gets a fine performance out of young Vincent Winter. Look out for Sean Connery in his first speaking role as a welder.
