Synopsis
In this moving examination of surrogacy and adoption, Laura Dern and Richard Lineback play a poor couple expecting their fifth child, who agree to give their baby to infertile, middle-class Stockard Channing and Peter Riegert. However, the deal soon turns sour and a bitter battle ensues. The always reliable Channing delivers a bravura performance and writer/director Jane Anderson, adapting her own play, invests the project with a gritty realism that is rarely seen in TV movies. Jodie Foster serves as co-executive producer.
