Synopsis

Political strife in Rhodesia in the late 1970s is the backdrop for this dull and dusty home-grown epic. Richard Roundtree (Shaft) plays black freedom fighter Gideon Marunga, who's become increasingly angry at British sanctions. Richard Harris finds it impossible to resist the charms of Joan Collins, while Ray Milland and Denholm Elliott round off a cast that's rather better than the movie deserves. Its heart may be in the right place, but such a worthy subject requires rather worthier movie-making - and a less pretentious approach. Cinema-goers agreed; the vultures gathered over this one.
