Synopsis

A routine programme filler from producer Leonard Goldstein, whose Panoramic production company had a deal with 20th Century-Fox that guaranteed cinema distribution. The canny Goldstein cleverly hijacked the colour climax of an earlier Fox western - 1944's Buffalo Bill - and used it virtually intact in this movie, inserting new close-ups of his principal players. The cast is headed by the ever interesting, and once hugely popular, Van Johnson. Director Rudolph Maté keeps the film moving, and the 1950s Technicolor, along with the appearance of Joanne Dru - who co-starred in Howard Hawks's Red River in 1948 - make it still worth watching today.
