Synopsis
This heartfelt TV movie explores the strains placed on the bonds of family by Alzheimer's disease. Academy Award winner Ellen Burstyn (Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore) stars as a grandmother who flees from the authorities rather than be separated from her nine-year-old orphaned grandson. The performances of Burstyn and co-star Walter Matthau, as her close friend, elevate what could have been a mawkish weepie and the veteran actors, along with a strong supporting cast, are more than capably directed by Matthau's son, Charles. The result is a moving drama with a timely and elegantly simple story.
