Synopsis
Rebecca De Mornay looked set for a major career boost after her role as the nanny from hell in The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, but chose a complete change of pace for this TV drama the following year. She plays a hard-bitten ex-con trying to make a new life for herself and her child but who can't seem to escape from her past. She's both credible and moving in the lead role and more than holds her own against canny scene-stealer Ellen Burstyn. Director John Korty keeps the film pleasingly free from the sugary excesses of other like-minded productions.
